Electronic Health Record


Electronic health record is an evolving concept defined as a systematic collection of electronic health information about individual patients or populations. It is a record in digital format that is capable of being shared across different health care settings, by being embedded in network-connected enterprise-wide information systems.The electronic health records helps the doctors/physicians and the healthcare team in documenting their interactions with the patient,view medical histories and insurance information,it can help the nurse for referrals,can get directly the laboratory results or order laboratory tests,the doctors can send electronic prescription requests to pharmacies so that it can reduce the risk for having a hard time reading an illegible handwriting that is prone to medical errors.The electronic health records contributes a lot to the nursing profession.
